Things to do
all around the area are walkways and tracks to explore. there is a great circular walk that goes out from and back to the village.
the local area is famous for ancient sites. these range from megalithic menhirs dolmens and hill forts in the immediate area to the massive earthworks at carnac on the south coast.
the local village of mellionnec is only a 10 minute bike ride away. it is the french representative of the cultural village of europe network. it has one bar and one organic bakery and local produce shop.
10 minutes by car is the market town of rostrenen. this has cafes, bars organic and fair trade shops, supermarkets and a weekly local market that sells everything from goats cheese to live ducklings. rostrenen also has a great wood fired pizzeria called Kumquat.
the coasts are stunning and easily accessable being around an hour to the south, west and north.
even closer, around 20km away is the massive quenecan forest and guerledan lake. the anse de sourdan, on the south side has a small beach, playground and the merlin lakeside restaurant and cafe.
only 2km away, easily accessable by bike is the beautiful nantes brest canal, with miles of easy country walking or cycling.
we strongly recommend travelling by brittany ferries for guests coming from the uk. they run car ferries from both portsmouth and plymouth to st malo and roscoff. both these ports are only an hour and a half away and the company provide a comfortable travel experience.
alternatively, again for uk, ryanair fly from stanstead to dinard, adjacent to st malo, and again a short drive away.
