Originally built for industrialist and inventor stanley goldberg in 1964, soon after completion the southridge residence was featured in architectural digest and has since graced the pages of numerous high-profile magazines. the home’s interior, recently refurbished to reflect original interior designer arthur elrod’s vision, is an inspired work of art. clean sleek lines compliment open, airy spaces and dramatic original art (including pieces by frieda koblick, sam shaw and paul evans) fill the 4,939 square foot home.

the views from the sweeping banks of windows are dramatic. expansive sliding glass doors open to a turquoise pool and the view of palm springs stretches before you. step outside onto a network of delightful hiking or riding trails. wranglers from the nearby smoketree stables will be pleased to bring horses up to your back door so you can enjoy a spectacular sunset ride through the indian canyons.

a delightful water feature welcomes you as you approach the estate; the tiled entrance resplendent with a dramatic 20-foot fountain. the expansive grand foyer features 13-foot high ceilings with three large skylights that invite filtered sunlight to pour through onto the custom white marbled floor and a very special black marble framed reflecting pool. to the left, the huge living area features a sunken wet bar and built-in cabinetry for the entertainment system, which is wired throughout the house.

the living room is spectacular. one wall is marbled in fine bookmatched walnut italian travertine. the fireplace, draped with the original iron mesh curtain, centres the room and the sunken bar, perfect for entertaining, completes the space.
